Bounty Hunters
Bounty Hunters servers turn survival into contract PvP. Players put a price on other players, hunters accept the job, and the world becomes a live chase instead of random duels. It still feels like an SMP, but the real currency is information: who is online, where they were last seen, what they wear, and who will back them up.
The loop is straightforward and tense: a bounty appears, a hunter commits, and the target chooses between disappearing or forcing a fight on their terms. Pursuits cut through Nether corridors, night forests, and base perimeters full of doors, traps, and exit tunnels. Most servers support this with tracking that creates pressure without removing the hunt, like a target compass, timed pings, or last-known-location updates that reward scouting and timing.
The format works because it makes conflict public. A grudge, a raid, or a rivalry becomes a shared objective with a payout, so politics and reputation matter. Targets travel with totems and pearls, run decoy kits, stage fake routes, and build safe portals. Hunters trade intel, set ambushes on resource runs, and hit during portal transitions, when mistakes are expensive.
Risk and reward set the pace. Payouts might be currency, rare items, or progression perks, while failure can mean cooldowns, forfeits, or lost stake. The best Bounty Hunters play feels earned: you win by reading patterns, controlling the terrain, and executing cleanly, not by catching someone afk.
How do bounties usually get claimed?
Most servers use a board or command to accept a contract, then lock you to that target until you complete it, cancel it, or it expires. Many also cap the number of hunters per target to avoid constant dogpiles.
Can you play peacefully on a Bounty Hunters server?
You can build and grind like any survival server, but the format is built around player conflict. Once your name has a bounty, you are making PvP decisions even while farming: routes, loadout, who you travel with, and when you show up in public.
What typically counts as a completed bounty?
Usually the hunter must get the kill and the server confirms it. Some rules add distance checks or require final damage credit to stop cheesy completions.
Is tracking normally too strong?
On well-run servers it is intentionally imperfect. Direction-only tracking, delayed updates, Nether quirks, and safe-zone or dimension restrictions keep targets able to outplay with planning, misdirection, and counters instead of being hard-locked.
What gear matters most when you expect to be hunted?
Mobility and escapes beat raw damage. Pearls, blocks, extra food, fire resistance for Nether routes, and a portal plan save more fights than squeezing out one more enchant level.
