FTB Teams servers are modded servers built around the idea that your group is a real in game entity, not just a handshake alliance. Bases, claimed land, and access rules are managed through the team, which makes cooperation feel structured instead of improvised.
The core loop is simple: make a team (or stay solo), set your home, claim chunks around your base, then build your modded stack without living in fear of drive by interaction. Claims are not only anti grief. They control who can place or break blocks and who can use containers and machines, which matters once your base has storage terminals, automation, and power networks where one mistake can cascade.
Where it hits hardest is shared progress. In many packs, quests and certain unlock systems can be tied to the team, so one person pushing mining while another handles machines still moves everyone forward. When a server leans into that, teamwork stops being just efficiency and becomes the intended way to play.
Good groups treat permissions as part of base design. Start tight, open up as trust forms, and keep personal storage or critical controllers behind stricter access if needed. It supports everything from two players merging completely to larger crews sharing land and progression while keeping some boundaries.
Usually not. You can play solo and still use the same claiming and settings, you just keep ownership and any progress tied to you instead of a shared group.
Most setups block non members from breaking or placing blocks in claimed chunks, and often restrict opening containers or using machines. On modded servers that can be more important than chest protection, because a terminal, controller block, or tank access can be the whole base.
Only if the pack and server configure it that way. When enabled, a completion can count for the whole team, while rewards might be per player or per team. Check reward rules early so nobody misses claims or gets stuck.
Teams commonly use roles with granular rights, like building access without storage access, or letting a trusted member manage claims. The safe pattern is conservative defaults, then expand once the base is stable and everyone knows what not to touch.
Claims and shared progress usually belong to the team entity. Leaving can mean losing access, and splitting often requires unclaiming and re claiming or forming a new team and moving agreed items over. Server staff policies vary, but most groups are expected to manage trust issues themselves.
