GeyserMC is a server-side bridge that allows Minecraft: Bedrock Edition players to connect to many Minecraft: Java Edition servers. Servers using GeyserMC can support crossplay between platforms such as Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, mobile, and Java Edition, although the exact supported devices and connection process depend on the server’s setup.
GeyserMC servers generally use Java Edition gameplay, plugins, worlds, and progression while translating Bedrock player connections into a format the Java server can understand. Crossplay is not identical to native Bedrock multiplayer: combat behavior, controls, resource packs, redstone, commands, and some plugins may work differently or have limitations. Server owners may also require Floodgate for Bedrock players who do not own Java Edition.
Before joining a GeyserMC server, check whether it supports your Bedrock platform, version, and account type, and whether it provides a custom address or port. Look for information about Java and Bedrock gameplay differences, voice or chat compatibility, and any restrictions on features such as cosmetics, menus, or PvP. A GeyserMC label indicates crossplay capability, not a specific game mode, ruleset, or community style.
It is usually a Java Edition Minecraft server configured with GeyserMC so Bedrock Edition players can connect. The server’s game mode, rules, and features still depend on the individual server.
Often yes, including players on mobile, Windows, consoles, and other Bedrock platforms. The server must have Bedrock access enabled, and consoles may need an additional connection method depending on platform restrictions.
Bedrock players can often join without owning Java Edition. Some servers use Floodgate to authenticate Bedrock accounts, while others may require Java account authentication or impose separate account rules.
Not necessarily. GeyserMC translates connections between editions, but Java-specific plugins, combat mechanics, resource packs, menus, and redstone behavior can have limitations or differences for Bedrock players.
