Main story

A main story server centers on a campaign you play, not just background lore. Instead of inventing your own goals in a pure sandbox, you follow a primary questline that opens regions, unlocks systems, and keeps a clear next objective in front of you.

The loop is structured progression: pick up quests from NPCs or quest menus, travel to named areas, clear dungeons or arenas, gather specific items, then turn them in to advance the chapter. Building and survival still matter, but mostly as preparation and support: setting a base, stocking gear, crafting supplies, and helping story hubs grow.

The pace feels intentional. You log in with direction, and you hit moments built for groups: boss phases, public events, and chapter finales that move the world forward. Strong main story servers keep you active, not on rails, by allowing side quests, optional routes, and co-op without losing the main thread.

Do I need to roleplay on a main story server?

Usually not. Many servers run the story through quests and events while letting players chat normally. If in-character chat is required, it will be explicit in the rules and enforced during story scenes.

Can I play the main story solo?

Often yes for early chapters, but expect difficulty spikes where a party is simply smoother, especially for bosses or dungeon-style content. Some servers tune encounters for solo players; others assume you will team up.

What if I join late and others are ahead?

Most let you progress chapters on your own timeline, so you can start from the beginning and catch up. The main exception is servers that advance the story globally or run limited-time events, where late joiners may miss context or rewards.

Is it linear, or can I still explore and build freely?

Expect guided progression with breathing room. Exploration is often curated and sometimes gated by chapters, but you can still roam unlocked regions, build a base, gather resources, and detour into side content between story steps.

How long does a main story usually last?

It varies widely. Some are short, finishable campaigns; others run in seasons with new chapters over time. Whether the story is complete, ongoing, or reset-based will shape the pace and what endgame looks like.
