No chest locks
No chest locks means containers are not plugin-protected. If someone reaches your storage, they can open chests, barrels, furnaces, hoppers, and shulker boxes and take what they want. Safety comes from secrecy, distance, decoys, and coordination, not from clicking a block to claim it.
It shifts survival into logistics. Stashes stay small and spread out, valuables move often, and long-term storage feels like a liability. Players build misleading rooms, bury micro-caches, tuck shulkers into terrain, and use ender chests to keep the truly important items off-site.
The result is a real risk economy where information matters as much as gear. Scouting routes, base discipline, and who you trust decide outcomes. When a base gets found, the loss is sharp, but the stories are better: the hidden vault you stumbled into, the rebuild, the uneasy neighbor who could empty you and chooses not to.
Is no chest locks the same as anarchy?
No. It only means storage is not protected by locks or claims. Servers can still enforce rules around hacking, griefing, spawn behavior, or combat.
Does no chest locks mean people can break into claimed bases?
Not necessarily. Some servers separate container access from block protection. You might be able to open a chest you can reach, while still being unable to break blocks to reach it, depending on the ruleset.
How do players keep items safe without locks?
By reducing what can be stolen at once and making it hard to find: split loot into multiple caches, keep a low-footprint base, use decoys, and move high-value items through ender chests instead of leaving them in bulk storage.
Do ender chests count?
Usually no. Ender chests are private by vanilla design. No chest locks is about shared containers that would otherwise be protected by a plugin.
What does day-to-day play feel like?
More caution around storage and more attention to movement. You plan for loss, travel with less, hide backups, and treat big visible bases and public farms as things that will eventually be noticed.
