no nation requirements
No nation requirements means you can play on a geopolitics or Towny-style server without having to join, found, or swear into a nation to do basic things. You can stay independent and still build, trade, travel, and progress without constant recruitment pressure or your home being treated as a default extension of someone else’s borders.
The loop is survival and building first, politics when you choose. Independents tend to run small towns, shops, resource operations, or quiet bases with their own routes and infrastructure while nations posture and negotiate around them. When you deal with nations, it’s usually for a purpose: access agreements, safe roads, contracts, mercenary work, or short-term residency, not permanent allegiance.
It creates a lower-commitment, lower-drama pace. New players can learn the map and economy before picking sides, and veterans can step out of diplomacy without leaving the server. The tradeoff is real: fewer guaranteed allies and perks, more responsibility for defense, and a higher need to read the rules, but the choice stays yours.
Can I protect land without joining a nation?
Most of the time, yes. Servers usually allow personal claims, town claims, or protected regions without tying them to nation membership. The exact tool varies, but core protection is meant to be accessible as an independent.
Are independents fair game for wars or annexation?
Depends on the ruleset. Many servers allow conflict, but independents are typically covered by the same war, siege, or claim-damage rules as everyone else. Legit servers avoid letting unaffiliated players be farmed through “no nation” loopholes.
What am I giving up by not joining a nation?
Usually coordinated defense, shared infrastructure, group-funded projects, travel networks, and the social safety net of allies. You keep control over your builds, taxes, obligations, and political baggage.
How do independents make money and find partners?
Markets, shops, and contracts. Independents often do well selling bulk resources, running services like transport routes or public utilities, and taking paid work as builders, scouts, couriers, or fighters.
Can I join a nation later?
Almost always. The point is flexibility: start solo, learn the map and power dynamics, then opt into nation politics when it actually benefits you.
