Open to all
Open to all servers let anyone join immediately, with no application or whitelist gate. You connect, spawn, and you are in the same world as everyone else: new players, regulars, and drop-ins. The pace is quick, the mix is broad, and the server tends to feel more public and spontaneous than a curated community.
Because access is unrestricted, the real gameplay question becomes what happens when strangers show up near your stuff. Strong open to all servers lean on clear rules and practical protections: spawn safety, land claims or region protection, chat controls, anti-cheat, and active rollback for grief. Your ability to settle, trade, and build long-term depends less on who gets in and more on how conflict and damage are handled.
Socially, you should expect constant contact with people you have never met. That can mean fast alliances, busy market areas, and helpful locals, but it also means occasional theft attempts, bait PvP, or players testing boundaries. When the setup is done right, it stays lively without making every session feel disposable.
Do I need to apply, join Discord, or get whitelisted first?
Typically no. Most are true join-and-play. Some still require lightweight steps such as accepting rules at spawn, completing a captcha, or verifying before chat and building.
Is it safe to build if anyone can join?
Safety comes from protection tools and enforcement, not the join policy itself. Look for claims, rollback, clear raiding rules, and moderators who respond. If protections are minimal, build discreetly and store valuables in multiple places.
What does open to all imply for PvP and raiding?
Nothing by itself. Many open to all survival servers use claims and opt-in or limited PvP; others allow raiding outside protected areas; anarchy-style servers allow most forms of harm. Check the rules before you assume your base or inventory is protected.
Why do open to all servers tend to run more protections?
Open entry attracts more drive-by griefing, alt accounts, and exploit attempts. Protections are what keep normal building, trading, and community play possible at scale.
What should I do on my first login?
Get secure fast. Learn the claim or protection system, set /home if available, move away from spawn, and establish storage before you sink time into a main base. Early setup usually determines whether the server feels stable or risky.
