Raiding SMP
Raiding SMP is survival multiplayer where conflict is the default and bases are meant to be broken into. You still start with stone tools and iron, but the real progression is staying unfindable, staying supplied, and not leaving your best loot in one place.
The core loop is pressure: build, hide, scout, strike. Players route through the Nether to avoid trails, watch for chunk activity, track patterns in portals and farms, and hit when the defenders are offline or split. Good raids are mostly intel and timing, not mindless TNT spam.
Because loss is expected, the social game turns sharp. Trust is currency. Teams form for labor and protection, then implode over leaked coordinates or a missing shulker. The world feels reactive because players change it with hits, counter-hits, and rebuilds.
Rules set the ceiling on destruction. Some servers allow full griefing; others keep raids focused on stealing and controlled breaches, with limits on spawn trapping or repeated harassment. Either way, you play like your base will be found eventually, so you build around recovery: stashes, backups, and fast re-gear.
Is Raiding SMP the same as anarchy?
Usually no. Anarchy implies near-zero rules. Raiding SMP expects raiding, but commonly keeps boundaries like no hacks, no spawn camping, and sometimes limits on griefing so the server stays playable.
What counts as raiding on these servers?
Breaking into another player or team’s base to take resources and disable defenses, then getting out with the loot. Some servers allow heavy block damage; stricter ones treat it as loot-focused with controlled breaking.
How do you keep a run going after getting raided?
Don’t centralize. Split valuables across multiple caches, keep a separate re-gear kit, and treat your main storage as disposable. Ender chests, off-site stashes, and spare tools let you bounce back instead of starting over.
Do Raiding SMP servers use claims or protections?
Sometimes, but they are often limited or designed to be raidable. You might see small claims, timed vulnerability, explosive bypass rules, or no claims at all, so scouting and defense still matter.
What makes a base hard to raid?
Being hard to locate beats being hard to break. Low surface profile, misdirection, separated storage, and off-site valuables matter more than a fancy vault. The best bases look like nothing from above and cost time to confirm.
