Safari nets
Safari nets gameplay centers on capturing a mob into an item, carrying it in your inventory, then releasing it wherever you want. Instead of boats, rails, or risky nether hauls, you capture a cow, blaze, villager, or even a named pet and place it at the destination. The loop is simple and addictive: find the mob, secure it, bring it home, deploy it.
The pace shift is the point. Farms, trading halls, grinders, and zoos come online earlier because transport stops being the project. Players plan tighter bases and iterate more often, since rebuilding does not mean abandoning hard-won villagers or breeding stock. Survival progression stays about finding and earning mobs, not escorting them for an hour.
Once capture is portable, mobs become tradable infrastructure. Filled nets get sold as breeding pairs, specific villager trade lines, rare spawns like mooshrooms or frogs, and nether mobs that are a hassle to move safely. On active servers, control of capture tools and supply routes matters, so a good setup puts boundaries in place.
Well-run servers keep safari nets from turning into mob-in-a-pocket chaos. Expect restrictions on bosses and special entities, tiered nets or permissions, cooldowns, and rules against dumping hostiles into protected areas. The best balance still rewards exploration and risk, then removes the tedious part after you have earned the mob.
What kinds of mobs are usually allowed in safari nets?
Most servers allow passive mobs and a selection of standard hostiles. Villagers are common but often limited because they can dominate progression. Bosses like the Wither and Ender Dragon are typically blocked, and odd cases like allays or wardens depend on the server.
Do safari nets preserve names and villager trades?
Usually yes. A solid implementation keeps key data like custom names, villager profession and trades, baby vs adult state, and variants. Some servers strip or restrict certain data to reduce exploits or curb overpowered trading.
How does this change survival progression day to day?
It removes the escort phase. You spend more time scouting, building, and upgrading farms, and less time shoving mobs through rivers or nether tunnels. That tends to push players toward earlier villager setups and more ambitious base layouts.
Can safari nets be used for griefing or PvP traps?
They can, which is why most servers regulate releases. Common rules include no hostile dumping at spawn or inside claims, and punishments for lag traps or new-player farming. The important detail is not just what you can capture, but where you are allowed to release.
What balance rules matter most on a safari nets server?
Limits that stop mass storage and monopolies. Look for clear capture bans on bosses, reasonable acquisition cost for nets, cooldowns, and restrictions on villagers and high-impact hostiles. If there is an economy, check whether filled nets are priced or regulated so they do not replace every other progression path.
