Simulation

Simulation servers treat Minecraft like a working world, not just a map to survive on. The point is living inside shared systems: economy, jobs, property, transport, utilities, and sometimes local government. Progress looks like stability, reach, and reliability, not quick wins.

The loop is routine plus ownership. You take a role or carve out a niche, then keep things moving: run production, restock shops, maintain farms, haul materials, manage a town budget, expand roads and rail, enforce rules, or provide services. Redstone and automation matter because uptime beats raw output.

The pace is slower and more social than most survival. Conflict tends to be about scarcity, regulation, and competing plans rather than constant PvP. A new trade route, a price shift, or a zoning change can reshape what everyone does that week.

Good simulation worlds lean on persistence. Builds are usually practical first, pretty second, and the server expects continuity: claims, permits, public works, shared spaces, and long-term projects. The fun comes from solving problems that are bigger than one base, like supply chains, city growth, and infrastructure that the whole server depends on.

Is simulation just roleplay with more rules?

It can overlap, but simulation is anchored in systems, not acting. You can play it with minimal character work as long as you operate inside the server structure and accept the consequences of things like ownership, trade, and regulation.

What do you do on a normal session?

A typical session is planning, maintenance, and delivery: checking stock, running farms or factories, moving goods, fixing infrastructure, negotiating trades, and handling the small tasks that keep a town or business functional.

Is PvP and raiding part of it?

Usually not as the main loop. Many worlds protect property and limit PvP to events or specific areas so the economy and infrastructure can stay intact. Pressure comes from competition, policy, and resource flow.

Do I need to be good at redstone or building?

No. Builders make settlements feel believable, and redstone players become valuable when automation is tied to production and logistics, but steady, reliable players matter just as much.

How is this different from a vanilla SMP?

Vanilla SMP is mostly self-directed survival with optional collaboration. Simulation adds a shared framework that makes players interdependent and shapes how you earn, build, and expand through server-wide systems.
