Well-run servers keep starter gear simple and controlled: stone or iron tools, a few steaks, maybe a shield, leather or iron, a bed, and some torches. Some also include a one-time claim item or a safe way to get away from spawn to reduce camping and help late joiners get established without dumping value into the economy.
It also signals server priorities. Some communities use starter gear to keep the focus on building and collaboration by cutting early friction. Others use it to speed up fresh worlds and seasons, getting everyone to the interesting part of survival sooner without skipping the actual grind.
