Servers running Terralith biomes use an Overworld that feels newly authored while staying recognizably Minecraft. Terrain has stronger composition: longer ridgelines, deeper valleys, more deliberate coastlines, and biome transitions that read as places instead of noise. Exploration stays fresh because the land keeps presenting new shapes to navigate and build into.
The multiplayer loop tilts toward scouting and choosing a home with intent. Early travel is less about grabbing the first village and more about finding a site that fits a plan: a cliff face for a fortress, a sheltered basin for a town, a coast that can actually carry a harbor. That tends to produce clearer regional identities, and servers naturally grow roads, waystations, and shared landmarks because the geography rewards connection.
Progression remains familiar, but movement has real friction. Elevation, river cuts, and rough routes turn routine errands into logistics, which makes practical infrastructure matter: bridges, tunnels, rail, nether links, and safe passes. In multiplayer, that distance softens direct conflict and strengthens trade and collaboration, especially on build focused servers where the goal is to live in the world rather than rush milestones.
Usually not. Terralith is commonly run as server-side datapack world generation, so vanilla clients can join. Some servers pair it with optional client mods (minimap, shaders), so check the server's setup.
In most configurations, yes. It primarily changes Overworld biomes and terrain; the Nether and End are typically vanilla unless the server adds separate worldgen packs.
Most of the time, yes. Structures are generally still present, but the surrounding terrain can be steeper or more dramatic, which can affect how accessible they feel and how you build around them.
You spend more time integrating with existing terrain and less time flattening. Natural shelves, slopes, and coastlines make terracing, retaining walls, switchback roads, and vertical builds feel normal, and large projects often look better with lighter terraforming.
Only for new chunks in a clean way. Existing generated areas will not be retrofitted, so servers either start fresh or apply it so unexplored regions generate with Terralith, sometimes creating a visible border where old and new terrain meet.
