tool friendly
Tool friendly servers are built around a simple premise: tools are for progress, not punishment. Settings and plugins are tuned so a good pickaxe stays in play, upgrades are reachable, and losing gear is a setback you recover from, not a full reset. The result is more time building, mining, and exploring, and less time stuck in maintenance loops.
Most of the difference comes from how durability and repairs are handled day to day. Mending or repair options are usually obtainable without turning survival into a villager-job grind, and anvil use is less punishing. Some servers add straightforward repair systems, others smooth the vanilla path, but the goal is consistent: you can actually use Efficiency, Fortune, Silk Touch, and Netherite without feeling like every session is paid for in chore work.
The feel is practical and builder-forward. Large digs, terraforming, and resource runs keep their rhythm because your tools do not fail mid-project. PvE is steadier when normal use does not melt your kit, and new players reach a comfortable baseline faster, which helps groups stay active. Good tool friendly play keeps progression intact while removing the parts that stall people out.
Is tool friendly basically unbreakable tools?
Usually no. Durability still matters, but repairs and replacement are accessible enough that using strong tools is normal instead of a gamble.
How can I tell if a server is actually tool friendly in practice?
Look at the repair path. If Mending is obtainable without extreme villager grinding, if anvil costs are reasonable, or if there is a clear repair system that supports regular play, you will feel it immediately while mining and building.
Does this break the economy since tools last longer?
Not by default. Many servers shift value toward resources, enchant materials, repair costs, or player services, so the economy rewards projects and throughput instead of constant tool replacement.
Will it still feel like survival progression?
Yes. You still gather, enchant, and upgrade, but the pacing is smoother and long sessions are not dominated by upkeep.
