Balloons
Balloons servers use balloons as a follower cosmetic that trails behind your player on a tether. You see them most in hubs and lobbies where people idle, socialize, and show off cosmetics: a slime balloon bobbing at your heels, a heart balloon during Valentines, limited seasonal designs during events. The vibe is light and personal, more about identity and flexing rare unlocks than power.
Most balloons are an illusion built from a leash tied to a hidden entity like an armor stand or small mob that gets disguised and teleported to track you. When it is done well, the tether stays smooth while sprinting, jumping, riding, using launch pads, or swapping between spawn points. When it is sloppy, it jitters, snaps, or catches on corners, and that polish is basically the whole point.
Some servers turn balloons into objectives instead of cosmetics. Party games and events use pop or collect rules: tag players to pop theirs, escort your balloon across a map, or grab spawning balloons as pickups. Competitive worlds usually restrict them, because a balloon can act like a free tracking marker, especially around invisibility or stealth kits.
Unlocking balloons follows the usual cosmetics loop: crates, quests, seasonal passes, or achievements, then equip from a cosmetics menu with quick toggles. The best setups respect the server pace: per-world rules, easy disable options, and the ability to hide other players balloons when a lobby gets crowded.
Are balloons just cosmetics, or do they affect gameplay?
Most servers treat them as hub cosmetics only. Others use balloons as event mechanics where popping or collecting them is the goal. If you play PvP, expect balloons to be disabled or hidden in arenas to avoid giving away positions.
Why do balloons sometimes lag, clutter lobbies, or look glitchy?
They usually add extra entities and constant repositioning, which can get noisy in packed hubs. Glitches happen when the server struggles with fast movement, teleports, corners, or chunk borders. Well-run servers keep balloons limited to certain worlds and offer a hide-cosmetics toggle.
Can a balloon reveal me while invisible or sneaking in PvP?
Yes, if other players can see your balloon, it gives away your location. Strong PvP setups either disable balloons in combat worlds, hide them during invisibility, or handle them in a way that does not broadcast your position.
