Multiple roleplays
Multiple roleplays servers host more than one active RP setting in the same community. Instead of one shared canon, you choose between separate worlds, genres, or campaigns, each with its own premise, rules, and regulars. One day you are playing court politics, the next you are in a neon city, a fantasy borderland, or an in-character survival settlement with its own laws.
The loop is closer to rotating campaigns than a single always-on storyline. You pick a setting, read its lore and limits, make a character that fits, and play scenes with whoever is active. When a plot arc cools off or you want a different tone, you switch settings without leaving the server. Well-run servers keep the boundaries firm with world or dimension separation, per-world inventories, and clean IC/OOC chat structure so nothing leaks across.
The appeal is variety without starting over socially. You get fresh premises and new dynamics, while still sharing a wider community. The price is focus: keeping canons straight, matching tone, and not importing power, gear, or knowledge from another roleplay. When it works, it suits players who like character work and improv but do not want to live in one genre forever.
Are the different roleplays separate worlds, or separate storylines in one world?
Both exist, but separate worlds or dimensions usually play cleaner. Hard separation reduces lore bleed, inventory carryover, and edge cases around conflict. If it is one world with multiple storylines, expect stricter scene boundaries and heavier moderation.
Do I need multiple characters?
Usually. Many servers expect one character per setting so your history, abilities, and relationships stay coherent. Some allow a shared character concept across settings, but they typically restrict it to prevent metagaming and power creep.
How do rules stay consistent when each roleplay has a different tone?
There is typically a global baseline for conduct and fairness, then each setting adds its own conflict rules and content limits. Check PvP consent, injury and death handling, and what counts as valid in-character evidence or knowledge.
Can I drop in casually, or is it event-based like campaigns?
Most lean toward drop-in, scene-driven RP with ongoing factions and locations. Many also run scheduled arcs and staff events on top of that, so you can treat a setting like a campaign when you want structure.
What should I check before committing to a setting?
Look for a short, readable primer, active players in that setting, and clear separation rules. It also helps to know how resets work, whether staff are present across all settings, and how they handle cross-setting advantages.
