No racism
A no racism server treats racial slurs, stereotypes, dogwhistles, and race-based harassment as clear rule violations, not edgy banter. The goal is not to sterilize conversation. It is to keep public chat, voice, and shared spaces from becoming hostile by default, so joining global chat, trading, or hanging out at spawn does not come with the expectation of targeted hate.
In practice, this format is defined by predictable enforcement: mutes and bans that actually happen, staff who respond to reports, and rules that cover evasions like spaced-out slurs, leetspeak, coded language, and baiting. It often extends beyond chat into signs, books, map art, builds, usernames, and skins, because those are common vectors for the same behavior. Many communities also treat Discord and in-game as one social space when conduct spills over.
Nothing about the mechanics has to change, but the social game does. PvP, factions, and competitive economies still run hot, but the fight stays about raids, gear, and territory rather than turning into identity-based abuse when someone loses. On survival towns, roleplay hubs, and minigame lobbies, the payoff is simple: public areas stay usable, and new players are more likely to stick around.
The best no racism servers are consistent. They spell out what crosses the line, apply it to regulars and newcomers alike, and avoid making enforcement a spectacle. You can still argue, rival, and compete, but the boundary is firm: race is not a weapon, even as a joke.
Does no racism mean you cannot swear or trash talk in PvP?
Usually not. Many servers still allow general swearing and competitive banter. The line is racial content and identity-based targeting, plus harassment that follows someone after the fight.
What counts as evasion, like misspellings or coded language?
If the intent is clearly to communicate a slur or racist stereotype through spacing, symbols, leetspeak, or dogwhistles, serious servers treat it the same as saying it directly and punish it accordingly.
Is racist content in builds, signs, books, or map art handled the same way as chat?
Most of the time, yes. Staff will remove or roll back the content and sanction the creator, since persistent in-world content can be more disruptive than a single chat message.
How is it moderated when staff are offline?
Common tools include chat filters, logging, report commands, and ticket systems. What distinguishes these servers is follow-through: reviewing evidence and acting later instead of letting it slide.
Can a server enforce no racism and still allow raiding, griefing, or hardcore competition?
Yes. It is a social boundary, not a peace policy. High-stakes PvP and aggressive play can coexist with strict enforcement against racism in chat and shared content.
