Prisons

Prisons is a progression-first multiplayer format built around a simple loop: mine blocks in a rank-locked area, sell the drops, and use the money to rank up into better mines. The grind is intentional, but it is structured. You are almost always working toward the next unlock, whether that is a new rank, a higher-value mine, or access to new mechanics.

Most Prisons servers revolve around a tight, server-managed economy where efficiency is everything. The rhythm is inventory management, fast selling, then straight back to the mine. The skill expression is less about survival and more about optimization: pickaxe progression, enchant choices, and reducing downtime. Enchantments like Efficiency, Fortune, and Unbreaking are not side upgrades here; they set your pace.

What keeps it from feeling purely solo is the competition layered on top. Trading, gangs, bounties, contraband, and PvP zones turn mining output into leverage. Some servers keep PvP mostly contained so progression feels steady; others make risk part of the climb by tying valuables and movement to contested areas. Either way, status tends to come from wealth, speed, and influence over the economy.

Many modern Prisons servers run seasons or resets because the endgame is an optimization race and economies eventually harden. The best versions stay satisfying by keeping progress legible and frequent, even when ranks slow down. Done well, Prisons makes Minecraft mining feel like a measurable ladder with public benchmarks and constant momentum.
