rentable cells
Rentable cells are a server setup where you lease a small private room, usually in a prison-style hub, and keep it by paying rent or renewing a timer. It functions like a personal base in a crowded world: a place to store valuables, craft, and run small utilities without your progress getting picked apart the moment you log off.
The loop is straightforward: earn money in public systems (mines, jobs, selling drops, quests), put that income into a cell, then squeeze value out of limited space. Good cells end up looking like optimized workshops: tight storage, hopper routing, a compact auto-smelter, maybe a small crop setup if the rules allow it. Because you cannot sprawl, layout matters more than aesthetics, and every block limit changes what is worth building.
Cells also create visible progression. Early on you rent something tiny with a short timer and strict limits. Later you aim for larger footprints, better locations, longer terms, or higher tiers with perks like extra members, higher spawner or hopper caps, more trusted slots, and sometimes the ability to run a little storefront others can buy from directly.
What makes rentable cells feel good is how they separate danger from stability. Public areas stay competitive and sometimes hostile, while the cell is where you bank your gains and plan your next push. Rent keeps the economy honest too: space has a cost, and if you stop paying, the server eventually locks and resets the room, freeing prime spots and preventing permanent squatting.
What happens if my cell rent runs out?
Typically the cell locks when the timer expires, then resets after a grace period. Some servers offer an item reclaim menu for a while; others treat it as abandoned and wipe it. Before you move everything in, check how long the grace is and whether items are protected.
Are rentable cells actually safe from theft?
They are usually protected by permissions, meaning strangers cannot break blocks or open containers. The real risk is trust: anyone you add as a member can often access storage and machines. Treat cell invites like base access, not like a party invite.
Can I run farms and redstone in a cell?
Usually yes, but under heavy limits. Expect caps or bans on hoppers, pistons, spawners, entities, and certain farm types. The strongest setups are compact, low-lag, and built around whatever the server allows.
How do players use a cell to make money?
By turning it into repeatable production and a selling point. Common plays include smelting chains for ingots, compact crop harvesting, item conversion setups, and chest shops if the server supports them. The point is steady, low-risk income you can scale into better gear, ranks, or a higher tier cell.
Can multiple players share one cell?
Often. Servers may allow members or co-owners, sometimes tied to rank or cell tier. Sharing speeds up progress, but it also means agreeing on permissions and storage rules, because one bad trust call can erase weeks of work.
